Chelsi has called San Diego home for the past decade, was raised in Sacramento, CA, and has lived in Europe and Asia. She is trained as a biologist, and has three years of high-tech private sector experience in telecommunications and life sciences. In 2014, she was a Fulbright Scholar with the U.S. Department of State in Malaysia. Living abroad for one year in a country that lacks quality codes and standards accelerated her appreciation of land use, access to energy resources, and a healthy built environment.
Chelsi currently spends her daytime hours as the Associate Director of the Samuel Lawrence Foundation which advocates for regional energy issues, funds community art, and supports science literacy efforts.
She volunteers her extra time as the Treasurer of the North Park Planning Committee, and Board Member of Tree San Diego. All other hours are spent, hopefully in the California sunshine, with her partner, Enrique, brainy friends, and her rescue dog, Jack Nicklaus.
